Walker was born in a small Georgia town and later lived in cities like Harlem, Detroit, and Atlanta. Walker’s body of work is informed by the artist’s experience and observation of these urban environments. Walker was a professor and became the Director of the art program at Georgia State University, retiring in 2000. He was then given the title of professor emeritus of art. He is currently represented by Mason Fine Art in Atlanta and his artwork has been exhibited in and collected by top museums across the United States.
