09 Apr Taste of Marietta “Know Before You Go”
With Taste of Marietta 2019 right around the corner, Marietta residents are anxiously anticipating one of the largest and longest running festivals in Atlanta. Though extremely exciting, the event may be overwhelming for first-time attendees. To avoid any confusion, keep reading to ensure your safety and preparedness by knowing all of the festival’s ins and outs before you go!
ABOUT – Taste of Marietta is an annual food festival showcasing restaurants and caterers hailing exclusively from Cobb County. Taking place on the last Sunday of April, the festival is held right in the Historic Marietta Square. Over 100,000 people usually attend Taste of Marietta, and we are prepared for an incredible turnout again this year.
WHAT TO EXPECT – Despite the name of the festival, tasting dishes from dozens of vendors will not be the only activity on your agenda. Entertainment will be spread all throughout the festival, grabbing the attention of attendees with a food judging competition, live music and fun and games in the Kids Alley. The best part? Admission is FREE! The only costs are for food items, which vary from $1.00 to $5.00 depending on vendor discretion.
NEW THIS YEAR – The exciting new addition to this year’s festival will feature a Chef Spotlight Stage with cooking demonstrations from local renown chefs. Chefs include: El Super Pan’s Hector Santiago who also had a spot on Bravo’s Emmy-winning show, “Top Chef Las Vegas,” Porch Light Latin Kitchen’s Andre Gomez, Piastra’s Greg Lipman, and Taqueria Tsunami’s Scott Kinsey.
FEATURED CONCERTS – In the past couple of years, there has always been a Sunset Concert to close the day’s festivities. This year, Featured Concerts will include Georgia’s own country singer, Zach Seabaugh and pop hits band, Coast Guard. Be sure to purchase a concert table reservation for front row seats. Tables can be purchased at tasteofmarietta.com/feature-concerts/.
VENDORS – Around 70 restaurants, food trucks and caterers will be present to showcase their tastiest creations to Marietta. Last year, some of our most popular restaurants included Catfish Hox, Deep Fried Brownies, Dave Poe’s BBQ, Hawg & Ale, and Stockyard Burgers & Bones. Fan favorite food trucks included Tom + Chee, Mellow Mushroom, Vego Bistro and more. This year, we look forward to seeing some friendly faces as well as some newcomers serving some of the most delicious dishes Cobb County has to offer.
PARKING – Available parking lots include the Cobb County Parking Deck, the Mill Street lot, and all county court lots. Though fees may apply to the deck and county court lots, the Mill Street lot is free. If those lots are full, you may also park at Marietta Middle School and walk to the Square. Please remember that parking will NOT be permitted at Marietta-area Churches.
The Marietta Visitors Bureau hosts this delicious event in conjunction with the City of Marietta.
